Below are the events that have been held to foster more reading by our students.  These events are organized by the librarian and reading specialists in each K-3 school.

2018 READING CHALLENGE

This year's Reading Challenge is Read to Succeed! It will have an olympic theme to coincide with the winter olympics being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea this winter!

Please come back often to see pics of special events, reading nights and the reading challenge for this year!

"Read to Succeed" Reading/STEAM Nights

In February KBES held a Readers to Succeed Reading/STEAM Night in the evening.  Students received different color bands from different areas each representing one of the Olympic rings. Other areas included crafts, technology and games.  Students were even able to read to therapy dogs!  It was a fantastic night!

In February SES held a Readers to Succeed Reading/STEAM/Math Night in the evening.  The Olympic Theme from the Reading Challenge was carried out throughout the different areas.  Students even played Hungry, Hungry Readers, our version of Hungry, Hungry Hippos! Other areas included crafts, technology and games.

NAHS Baseball Players Read to our LNES Students

In February LNES had the NAHS Baseball Team come in to read to our students for Dr. Seuss' Birthday! Kids enjoyed hearing the players read some of their favorite Dr. Seuss books!  Also, Coach Wolf got a chance to see his past elementary teacher, Mrs. Corello, when the players went into her classroom to read! The players really "hit one out of the park" reading to the LNES students!
